Lahore—Wapda will defend the title in the eight-team National Baseball Championship which swings into action here tomorrow, Thursday at Iqbal Parks Sports Complex. The teams have been divided into two groups. The group A comprises Wapda, Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad. The group B has last year finalists Army, Police, Khan Pukhtoon Khwan, and Balochistan. Army will face Police in the opening match on Thursday at 1pm, followed by the second match between Punjab and Sindh.
Two matches will be played daily and top two teams of each group will qualify for the semi-final. Additional Secretary Punjab Sports Rana Tahir will inaugurate the championship, while president Pakistan Federation Baseball Shaukat Javed will be award the prizes on the final on January 5.
