Tony Malinosky, the oldest living former Major League Baseball player, has died, the Los Angeles Dodgers said. He was 101. Malinosky passed away Feb. 8 in Oxnard, California, the team said on its website.  Malinosky, a former infielder originally signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates, played 35 games for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1936, according to a story on the team’s website.

An Illinois native, Malinosky attended Whittier College in California and was a classmate of former U.S. President Richard Nixon, according to the Dodgers. In 2009, Malinosky was honored at Dodger Stadium on the eve of his 100th birthday. The oldest living former Major League player now is 99-year-old Connie Marrero, born on April 25, 1911, in Cuba, the team said.
