The Oceania Under-16 Baseball Championships got swinging in Auckland today, with New Zealand hosting Australia and Guam. A place at the World Champs in Mexico was up for grabs and the Kiwis made a great start, trouncing Guam 14-3 in the opening game.
But after New York Yankee Curtis Granderson threw out the first pitch in their afternoon game against Australia, New Zealand was quickly playing catch up. Six runs were batted in, in the first innings, before the Aussies went long in the second. The Aussies crushed New Zealand 11-0.
