National baseball writer explains why he voted Neftali Feliz for A.L. Rookie of the Year

Neftali Feliz definitely received at least one first place vote for American League Rookie of the Year.
Seth Livingston of USA Today is a member of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and awarded his first place vote to the Rangers closer.

Livingston's ballot: 1.Neftali Feliz, Rangers; 2. Austin Jackson, Tigers; 3.Brennan Boesch, Tigers

Livingston's explanation: "This was essentially a neck-and-neck, two-horse race the last two months of the season. Neftali Feliz and Austin Jackson were both highly viable candidates in my mind. Both had excellent numbers. I went with Feliz because of what he meant to the Rangers' championship season. Rookies don't usually take over as closers and I can't recall a rookie closer playing for a team strong enough to make it deep into the playoffs."
