What 2 Watch 4: MLB Playoffs and College Football

Posted in : Gossips

(added last year!)

Prior to this series with the Reds, Charlie Manuel's team has opened up each of its previous four playoff series with a victory in Game 1 and a loss in Game 2. The Phillies look to change that tonight at home, where the visiting Reds have not scored in their last 30 innings at Citizens Bank Park (including regular season) and after its Game 1 loss, have now lost 7 straight road games at Philadelphia. They will look to snap that streak against Roy Oswalt, one of the National League’s hottest pitchers tonight in Philly.Reds P Bronson Arroyo enters tonight's game with a 7.41 postseason ERA.

What 2 Watch 4: MLB Playoffs and College Football

The Giants shut out Atlanta, 1-0, in their playoff opener Thursday night. What solace can the Braves take away? Teams that are shut out in the first game of a postseason series go on to win the series more often than they lose (19-18). How do the Giants top what they got out of Tim Lincecum on Thursday? If they get another shutout, it would be pretty historic. They haven’t allowed 0 runs in consecutive postseason games since the 1917 World Series! Giants pitcher Matt Cain takes the ball tonight and has a good comfort zone at AT&T Park, winning seven of his last eight starts on the home diamond. Braves SS Alex Gonzalez is 0-for-9 for his career against Cain, including 0-for-5 against him this season with a pair of strikeouts. Tommy Hanson throws for the Braves tonight after closing the regular season strong, with an 0.48 ERA in his last 3 starts (all no-decisions). The Braves didn’t get shut out in back-to-back games all season, and they’ve NEVER been shut out in back-to-back postseason games.
